puriFlash® ELSD (Evaporative Light Scattering Detection)

Evaporative Light Scattering Detection (ELSD) adds value as it allows the user to see compounds with little or no chromophore. It is an excellent detection method for preparative applications as ELSD response is proportional to the sample concentration (for compounds less volatile than solvents). ELSD is compatible with both gradient and isocratic applications (compared to RI detection) and is a complementary technique to Mass Spectrometry.

Interchim ELSD in the Flash Chromatography environment

  • Flash specific nebulizer to avoid clogging from flash grade solvents
  • Signal optimisation to avoid saturization from flash sample loading
  • Operational through version 5 software

Interchim's automated flash chromatography systems bridge the client's flash to preparative demands. Interchim have therefore developed an ELSD system as an optional accessory. It can easily be attached to our system (or any other system) with an analogue to digital interface.

Interchim ELSD is designed specifically for preparative and flash applications. It houses a wider nebulizer to avoid blocking and clogging in the high concentration/ preparative environment. It features an attenuator which allows scaling up/down of peaks to prevent flat-topping and detector saturation (frequently seen in flash/ preparative applications on other detectors).  The flow splitter allows only 0.2 – 0.5ml/ min solvent use to maximise sample collection.

The detector is fully operational through our version 5 software found on all Interchim Flash Chromatography instruments or can be used as a stand alone detector on other flash/ preparative systems using an A/D interface.
