Flash Cartridges / Flash Columns background

The flash cartridge has made a number of advances since the initial gravitational glass columns utilised for chemical cleanup procedures.

Today’s markets consist primarily of two plastic cartridge formats.

  • The SNAP® cartridge from Biotage® AB (generally known as the Biotage® SNAP) is a proprietary screw cap system that facilitates direct sample access to the media bed.

  • The closed cartridge system media is sealed within a closed unit. Sample is introduced by injection through a top valve within the cap.

Interchim have adopted the closed top system as through the use of a regulated polypropylene housing, they can manufacture a ‘high pressure flash cartridge’ (up to 22 bar) which provides distinct benefits when used with Interchim Flash equipment.

The majority of the range is available in cartridges ranging from 4g to 1.6KG.

Key Products

HC (High capacity Silica)

A spherical silica with a surface area of 680 m2/g. Studies show up to 20% sample loading for HC silica compared to 1 – 10% for current industry standards.

Available in 50, 25 and 15 micron to provide up to three fold reductions in run times and vast improvements in resolution and purity of fractions.
